I’m Felipe Esparragó, the visionary mind behind the heartwarming tale of Costa Rica Stamps—a one-of-a-kind NFT collection that not only captures the essence of endangered fauna in Costa Rica but also carries the spirit of resilience and determination.

Let me whisk you back to the roots of this awe-inspiring project. It all started during the 2021 NFT bull run, where I found myself navigating the world of NFTs. But amidst the chaos of collections flooding the market, I noticed a void—an absence of genuine human art expression. That’s when the idea struck me: Costa Rica deserved its very own authentic NFT collection.

I reached out to my lifelong friend, the brilliant mind behind The Pura Vida Company, Stephen Workman. Together, we envisioned a collection that not only showcased the beauty of Costa Rican wildlife but also supported endangered species in a unique, collectible way.

“A” is the underground illustrator whose art graced major brands like Corona, McDonald’s, Vans, and more. With A on board, we embarked on a journey that blended art, conservation, and collectibles. The stamp #1 (Sloth), marked the beginning of our mission.

Fast forward through a year of meticulous planning and design, our team expanded with Tadeo our Web3 developer. We were ready to unleash our creation to the world, and the industry responded with enthusiasm. But then, the crypto and NFT bear market hit, casting a shadow over our dreams.

Yet, I couldn’t bear to leave this project incomplete. As creators, we know the power of persistence, even in the face of challenges. While the team disbanded, I forged ahead, determined to see Costa Rica Stamps come to life.

Unfortunately, “A” abruptly exited the project due to personal reasons that remain a mystery to us. His decision to remain anonymous adds an additional layer of uncertainty to the situation, as we are left grappling with the unanswered question of when, or even if, he will resurface. The geographical whereabouts of “A” have become an unsettling enigma, further intensifying the distressing void left by his sudden departure. Efforts to reestablish contact have proven futile, plunging the project into a somber atmosphere tainted by the unexplained absence of a key contributor.

In the depths of the bear market, I scoured the world for fresh talent, pouring personal funds into prospecting and testing. In February 2023, fate intervened—I met Rod. His commitment breathed new life into the collection, and we pressed on.

June 2023 brought another turning point. At a crypto event, I crossed paths with Juan Guerrero, who saw the potential of Costa Rica Stamps and invited us to Blockchain Jungle—an opportunity we couldn’t pass up. The emotional rollercoaster was back on track, and with time ticking away, Rod raced to complete the collection by October 2023.

As we eagerly count down to the official launch on November 15th, the excitement surrounding Costa Rica Stamps is reaching its zenith.
